Purpose of Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to deliver consistently good/outstanding lessons and ensure high standards of teaching, marking, assessment, and feedback, leading to excellent progress and attainment for all students.
Key Accountabilities:
- Consistently deliver good/outstanding lessons and student outcomes.
- Secure and maintain a positive learning environment and student behaviour.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.
- Encourage students to engage, cooperate, and build self-esteem through challenging and motivating activities.
- Participate in quality assurance processes within the subject area to secure improvements and provide opportunities for professional development.
- Contribute to and support the development of a whole-school approach to improving basic skills.
- Work with the subject area team to implement principles that ensure:
- Accurate monitoring and reporting of student progress.
- Teaching improvements are a priority.
- Marking, assessment, and feedback are provided to all students.
- Collaborative efforts with staff to implement targeted interventions for maximum student progress.
- Participate in evaluation programmes that inform subject area and whole-school self-evaluation, identifying priorities for improvement.
- Contribute to the subject area improvement plan and self-evaluation framework (SEF).
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of the school’s vision, values, and priorities.
- Attend school meetings and contribute to discussions.
- Mentor and coach staff to improve teaching, share best practices, and build leadership and confidence.
- Work collaboratively with others to foster a supportive and challenging climate for staff development, resulting in improved teaching standards.
- Support colleagues in using prior attainment and assessment information to monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Assist colleagues in ensuring students make progress relative to prior attainment and national comparisons.
- Participate in strategies for staff induction, development, and performance management.
- Take part in recruitment and selection procedures for subject area staff.
- Manage time effectively, balancing teaching responsibilities and subject area development.
- Take responsibility for personal professional development and remain up to date with current practices, undertaking relevant training.
- Comply with reasonable requests from the curriculum leader or subject area leader.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships both within and outside the school.
- Comply with policies related to child protection, health and safety, and confidentiality, reporting any concerns.
- Contribute to campus life and support the overall vision, values, and guiding principles of the school.
- Participate in supervision duties as scheduled by the school.
- Model professional behaviour and attitudes, ensuring the highest standards of appearance and conduct.
Personal Attributes Required:
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Degree in a relevant subject
- Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD)
Experience:
- Recent, relevant teaching (or teaching practice) at KS3 and KS4 in a secondary or comprehensive school.
Skills, Ability, Knowledge:
- Up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
- Ability to use a range of teaching strategies to engage students and ensure progress.
- IT literate and confident in using ICT as a teaching tool.
Personal Qualities:
- Energy, persistence, and enthusiasm, tempered with a good sense of humour.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relate well to both children and adults.
- Willingness to participate in extracurricular activities.
- Effective team member.
- Adaptable to changing circumstances and new ideas.
- Able to remain calm under pressure.
- Understanding and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
