Reports to: Senior Deputy Headteacher

Purpose of Role: As a SEND Teacher, your role is to plan, implement, and deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet the varying learning and social needs of students. You will contribute to the overall improvement of pupil progress and support their personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach students across the age-range of the school, ensuring their needs are met.
- Assist in developing appropriate curriculums, resources, and teaching strategies.
- Set targets for pupil learning and contribute to statutory assessments and reviews.
- Implement school policies and procedures, utilizing ICT to support teaching and learning.
- Participate in performance management and contribute to school priorities.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance within the classroom, fostering cooperation and self-esteem.
- Contribute to the school’s ethos, values, and guiding principles.
- Attend training events, comply with safeguarding policies, and carry out other reasonable duties as required.
Professional Expectations:
- Prioritize student safety and well-being.
- Lead class teams, liaise with parents, and participate in professional development.
- Uphold school policies rigorously, contribute to positive culture, and participate in supervision duties.
Qualifications/Training:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Higher degree qualification and postgraduate SEN course are desirable.
- Participation in work with other schools/agencies is desirable.
Experience:
- Successful experience of teaching pupils with SEN is essential.
- Experience in planning a differentiated curriculum and willingness to train in behavior management and communication approaches is desirable.
Skills, Ability, Knowledge:
- Awareness of SEN Code of Practice and National Curriculum.
- Understanding of performance management and equality of opportunity.
- Ability to motivate students and staff, adapt the curriculum, and contribute to school improvement.
