Purpose of Role: Your role as a Cover Supervisor is to follow lesson plans and manage classroom activities when teachers are absent. This includes supporting students with their work and ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes during teacher absences, maintaining routine and engaging students in pre-prepared activities.
• Support students on work experience, trainees, and volunteers.
• Work under the guidance of senior staff and follow established supervision procedures.

Range of Duties: Support for Pupils:

• Use your skills to support students’ learning and foster positive relationships.
• Encourage cooperation and inclusion among students.
• Promote independence and provide guidance on learning choices.

Support for Teachers:

• Maintain a productive learning environment and assist in lesson planning.
• Provide feedback on student progress and assist with administrative tasks.

Support for Curriculum:

• Implement learning activities and adjust based on student needs.
• Support the use of technology in learning activities.

Support for the School:

• Comply with school policies related to safety and confidentiality.
• Contribute to the school’s ethos and communicate with various stakeholders.
• Participate in training and development opportunities.

Personal Attributes Required:

• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and relate well to students.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and promoting a positive school environment.

Qualifications/Training:

• NVQ3 qualification or equivalent experience in relevant disciplines.
• Experience working with students, including those with special educational needs.
• Training in behavior management and relevant learning strategies is desirable.
